Hobbit Doors in NYC

Some of you may remember when I wrote about the Gnome doors in our apartment in 2010. That particular entry gets a lot of comments whenever I talk to friends who read this blog.

In today’s NYTimes I learned that I am not alone. Dennet Place, a neighborhood in Brooklyn, was described as a special little block with hobbit doors. (“On an Inconspicuous Brooklyn Block, a Curious Nickname and Hobbit Doors“) Okay, they are taller than the gnome doors, but still…the comparison seems apt. Dennet Place, also known as “Cat’s Alley,” sounds amazingly quaint and adorable.

Luckily for us, there are zillions of little alley streets throughout Philadelphia that are quiet little oasis in the shadow of downtown. My plan for summer is to look for the perfect block. Then hawk it on zillow.com. 😉
